Fresh (if a little footsore) from Paris, myself, Laura and Sarah are still buzzing. Silmo is one of the world’s top trade shows for the optical industry and we hit it on the opening day to see what was being debuted in the capital of style. After a quick coffee-and-croissants-fix overlooking Notre-Dame, it was off to the exhibition centre.
First up was a meeting with Theo, one of our favourite designers, which resulted in us placing an order for some seriously fab new frames. One of the reasons Silmo is so important, is that it’s the only time we get to see the new ranges and to buy for next year. It’s also a great opportunity to talk to the manufacturers and designers.
Our next meeting was with Ann et Valentin and as usual they didn’t disappoint. Some of the new frames were the most incredible and vibrant we’ve seen in years. Not surprisingly we bought loads. We can’t wait till they arrive in the store, adding some Va Va Voom to our current range. You all know how much I adore Thierry Henry after all!
Fired up from our little buying spree, it was time to browse the stands. One of our mission’s was to track down a new supplier for a classic plastic range and after much (sorry about your feet girls!) toing and froing we finally decided on one. So get ready to see a great new range of ageless, beautifully finished and affordable frames making an appearance sometime soon.
We wrapped up the day with a much-needed Mojito on the Orgreen stand (thanks guys) before heading back to the hotel. And in case you don’t think shows are hard work, check out our Facebook page to see me asleep on my feet on the Metro home.
